The world of beauty is as big as the ocean and just like the ocean it can seem intimidating. I mean probably as I type this hundreds of new products hit the shelf (probably). So where does someone start in the makeup aisle? Well have no fear because as a beginner myself, here are my go to products for an easy everyday makeup look (it won’t break the bank either).
It’s important to note that your skin and lips should be moisturized prior to applying any makeup to avoid dry spots and a cakey look
Priming the face helps to keep your makeup look in place and lasting all day. One important thing to note with primers is if they are water or oil based. Pair the appropriate one with your water or oil based foundation to make sure your makeup doesn’t melt throughout the day.
I mainly use concealer on problem spots such as acne marks or dark spots such as around my nose and mouth. If you don’t generally feel like you have these problems concealer can be skipped. (see? easy)
To hide blemishes and blotchiness on the skin or for a flawless full face use foundation to perfect the skin. Some of my favorites are MAC, BOBBIBROWN, NYX, COVERGIRL and sometimes MAYBELLINE ( I say sometimes because I don’t feel it’s friendly for oily skin types)

After foundation, set it with a setting or face powder. To simplify things I only alternate between two powders. Now there are lots of other setting powders from translucent to sun-kissed and light coverage you can choose from but to stop from breaking the bank using these products everyday for an everyday look I’ve highlighted these two.
You can also check out different setting powders for your every need here.
The framework of the face, the brows have taken on a new life of their own. From trends such as the wavy or braided brows, these are my most intimidating thing to do on my face. However, rest assured because brows are sisters not twins. Try to get them looking as close as possible but it’s not a big deal if they aren’t completely identical. I first use a brow pencil followed by the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder which comes as a set including brow shadows and gel. You can follow-up with your foundation shade to clean up the look by outlining the brows for a neat look.
Starting with an eyeshadow base to help the look last all day, pick up a neutral palette or some individual colors that you feel comfortable wearing as part of your everyday look.
This optional step can really bring depth and warmth to your face. The most common places to highlight are the upper parts of your cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, cupids bow, the center of your forehead and chin and also the brow bone if you wish.
Contouring occurs in the hollow of the cheek up towards the hairline, the sides of your nose for a more defined look and finally under the chin for a more defined jaw line. Sleek would have to be my go to brand.
Lips are fun. Depending on your skin tone, each lipstick shade that’s natural will be unique to every individual. Ranging from pink to brown I find that the NYX line has some really beautiful colors to choose from at an affordable price.
Finally to preserve all our hard work, don’t forget to set the look with a setting spray.
