August Favorites: Beauty and Hair care products

Here are a few favorites I found during the month of August.

With the endless pool and beach days come dry hair and crunchy split ends. I found the best way to avoid dry hair was to use moisturizing hair care products. The hair products that I used to keep my curls moisturized and healthy was the Shea Moisture coconut and hibiscus curl and style milk with silk protein and neem oil. I also used the Manuka Honey and yogurt hydrate and repair protein treatment with mafura and baobab oils. I love this hair care brand and products because they are made with fair trade ingredients, are cruelty-free, ethically traded and certified organic and natural. For those of us who like to avoid hard chemicals, parabens and drying alcohols these products are an absolute holy grail find.

I’ve found this brand to have the best hair care products for me because I suffer from coarse, dry, brittle hair and the curl and style milk moisturized my curls, strengthened and smoothed it as well as stopped breakage. Best of all both these hair products and other products in the brand’s range boasts:

No Sulfates

No Phthalates

No parabens

No Propylene Glycol

No mineral oil

No animal testing

No Petrolatum

As a curly haired girl, I love my curls but sometimes I’m in the mood for something different whether it’s straight or styled hair. To keep my strands protected, I’ve been using the BTZ Turn up the heat flat iron protection to help shield my hair from heat damage. I’ve found that this heat protectant spray stops my hair from burning when blow drying or straightening. It’s one of my favorite hair care products because my curls always return damage free at wash day. Some benefits to expect from this product is that it:

  • Seals the cuticle for silky smooth looking hair
  • Creates slip for effortless heat styling
  • Can be used with any heat styling appliance
  • Leaves hair soft and manageable

Who can resist?

Sun damaged skin can wreck havoc on the long term health of your skin. To protect my skin in the blistering August heat, I’ve found and have been loving the Neutrogena naturals multi-vitamin nourishing moisturizer. This is another natural product with:

NO Harsh Chemicals

NO Sulfates

NO Parabens

NO Petrolatum and Dyes

NO Phthalates

This product smells great, replenishes essential skin nutrients and provides continuous moisture and nourishment to my skin throughout the day. It is fortified with vitamins B, C, E and anti-oxidant omega bionutrients. It also won’t clog pores and best of all doesn’t test on animals and uses recycled plastic to help reduce waste.

Skin care is as important to me as hair care and to keep my skin blemish free and smooth, my go-to mask has been the black mask from body drench. It’s a pore refining peel off mask made with black charcoal to help draw out excess dirt and oil on the skin’s surface. Although this mask has quite a strong smell, I’ve found that using a thin layer helps to pull out all the dirt inside my pores and leave my face clean and calm. I follow up with my favorite face wash and my normal beauty routine.

Finally, my last August favorite has been one of my favorite candle brands for a long time, Woodwick. I recently got my hands on the Vanilla Bean scent and have been loving it. For those who don’t know the woodwick candles are unique in that the candle crackles like a fireplace as it burns and can fill a whole room with divine scent. It’s good for a romantic night-in on a summer night and is great to set the ambiance.
