Paint Night: A Groupon Favorite

Groupon is a great place to get deals deals deals and also to find things to do near you at a reasonable price. As we leave the dreariness of winter behind like an expired ex and look forward to everything spring and summer has to offer, I’ve found that the deals on Groupon are very appealing to me and my wallet. One such deal is the ever popular Paint Nite.

Created by Dan Hermann and Sean McGrail, paint nite‘s mission is to “encourage creativity, empower communities, and inspire connections (away from the screen), all while offering a new way to go out and have fun”.

Paint at your own pace with others on paint nite

Recently my unicorn (boyfriend) and I decided to give one of these paint nights a try. I’ve tried one of these before with my bestie but why not? Even if you’ve done one of these before, with the variety in pictures you  can choose from, you can learn how to paint different landscapes/pictures every time. So go as often and as much as you want.

Did I mention these events are usually for those 21+ because of the BYOB factor. Getting drunk with friends or a partner/ significant other while painting seems like the perfect adult getaway. Events usually take place at local pubs and bars where drinks can be purchased throughout the night.

The image we chose is titled “Indigo Beach” by local artist Lisa Berger.

It is worth mentioning that a similar event called “Plant Night” is available with the same premise however it caters more to those who don’t feel they’re artistically gifted (you don’t need to be to enjoy yourself). Instead of painting, guests can create a mini terrarium or table top garden while learning about succulents, flower arranging easy gardening with a drink! All of this at your favorite local bar.

Paint Nite is certainly invading local bars and restaurants across the US and Canada with a new way to go out, have fun, and feel good. It’s everything a great nite should be—friends, drinks, and laughter. Plus, you’ll create a one-of-a-kind painting along with the memory of a unique nite out.

The popular event also offers Private Parties, Corporate Events, and Fundraisers helping to raise over $4,000,000! So no matter how you want to get creative, they’ve got just the thing.

As an added bonus to communities, this event helps local artists and Creative Entrepreneurs in over 1700 cities, who own and run the business in their area. This helps them to be able to make a living doing what they love.

So if you’re looking for a fun date idea for Friday night or the weekend, book one of these fun events in your area at Groupon or paint nite’s website.

Cute Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

Got the travel bug and decided to ditch my day job (and the abysmal winter weather) and  head to CANCUN for a week. A decision that I’m glad I made because it made for a memorable trip with my  sister aka my partner in crime. Now we didn’t spring for the the best all-inclusive resorts in Cancun because let’s be realistic…everyone has to live on some kind of budget. We instead decided to stay at a beautiful little 3 star hotel near the water front. Our room came with a balcony which gave the most perfect view of the sunset.

Here are some of our adventures in this little paradise tucked away in Quintana Roo, Mexico. Check out the best places to visit in Mexico.

We started our trip in Cancun a city on the Yucatán Peninsula bordering the Caribbean Sea.

After a few days de-stressing away from the frigid winter weather we traveled from Cancun to Tulum, Mexico.

There we signed up for the Tulum Cenote Tour with EKNX Tours. The package came with a tour in the archeological site of the Mayan Ruins in Tulum, a swim in the Cenote and shopping in downtown Playa Del Carmen Mexico.

Some other activities worth looking into is ziplining, ATV-ing around some trails, renting a boat for a sea getaway or jet skiing is always a favorite. The goal was exploration and adventure and I think we managed to do just that.

How would you spend a quick getaway to another country? Exploring or being leisurely? Check out some more things to do in Cancun.

Veganism For Beginners: A Healthy Balance

Most people care a great deal about the environment and our impact on it and how our actions will affect not only future generations of humans but animals and the ecosystem.

Lately I’ve been thinking about my contribution (or lack thereof) to this cause and have been deciding (for awhile) to immerse myself in veganism not only as a fad but as a lifestyle. Continue reading Veganism For Beginners: A Healthy Balance

42 Cartoons 90s Kids Watched Growing Up

Being a 90’s kid was the best mainly because of all the cool cartoons that aired on Disney, Nickelodeon and CartoonNetwork. I still remember waking up early on Saturday mornings or coming home after school to catch all the newest episodes.

There are so many good ones to pick from but I’ve highlighted 42 cartoons that 90’s kids watched growing up, some of which are favorites I remember watching as a kid.

My Morning Routine for Smooth Toned and Glowing Skin

Large pores, pimples, acne and worse the marks they leave behind. To achieve poreless, smooth and naturally glowy skin I took matters into my own hands and searched around for products that really work for me.

I have combination skin – oily in my T-zone and dry around my chin and mouth. Considering my skin tone (dark) I’m also extremely susceptible to hyperpigmentation and the dreaded dark spots left over from acne. I’m happy to share however, that I finally have  a regimen that works to keep my skin not only breakout free but incredibly smooth. Make Up Essentials For Beginners

The world of beauty is as big as the ocean and just like the ocean it can seem intimidating. I mean probably as I type this hundreds of new products hit the shelf (probably). So where does someone start in the makeup aisle? Well have no fear because as a beginner myself, here are my go to products for an easy everyday makeup look (it won’t break the bank either). What to Watch: The End of the F**king World ( A Netflix Original)

Cue one thrill seeking teenager, a self-confessed wannabe psychopathic murderer and a series of absurd experiences building up to an existential crisis and you have Netflix’s original series THE END OF THE F**KING WORLD. Weird right? Well not really, at the core of it, this dark comedy series is a bildungsroman in all its carpe-diem glory or in other words, YOLO! Bruno Mars’ Finesse ft Cardi B Gives Us 90’s Nostalgic Vibes

Diving right in, this fun upbeat single and music video sends me right back to my childhood in the 90s. It brings me back to singing along to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air as a kid feeling so proud that I knew all the words as Will Smith rapped the story of his life. What to Watch: Dark: Season One (A Netflix Original)

Arguably, Netflix originals are some of the best content to watch. For me, not having the same stories retold over and over with different actors like the Hollywood reboot machine likes to churn out is a refreshing breeze.DARK Netflix original - The Millennial Exclusive

Unashamedly, over the last week one series that gripped me was, DARK. This time traveling existential series had me glued to my bed (I watch in bed) reaching for the endless array of snacks set out before me. The series can only be described as a mindf**k  as story lines from the present, past and future seamlessly intertwine leaving you guessing about the true origins of the characters and what the number 33 means in your own personal life. Oprah Winfrey’s Golden Globe Award Acceptance Speech

Oprah Winfrey was the recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille award at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony. During her acceptance speech, she delivered a powerful message combating racism, sexism and many of the -isms not just plaguing Hollywood in the heels of the Harvey Weinstein’s and Kevin Spacey’s of the world, but in politics and our everyday lives. What I’ve Learned: 1 month after starting my blog (Advice Welcome)

It’s been about a month since starting my blog. It’s been a bit of a learning curve since the whole process seemed intimidating. So far, I’ve learned that blogging can become a passion when you focus on topics and content you care about and your initial reasons for starting. In a previous post I talked about  some goals for my blog and my aspirations for it going forward. You can read more about it  by clicking the link/ image below.

The Millennial Exclusive: Why I blog and what I want for my blog in the future

On the technical side, I’ve learned quite a few things about optimization (SEO) and marketing, trackbacks/pingbacks, increasing traffic to my site, creating engaging content that will resonate with an audience and viewing blogging as more than just a hobby. I’ll most likely do a blog post in the future on these individual elements when I feel more well versed in them.

However, key takeaways are that in blogging, consistency and time management is key. It’s important to have quality and a genuine voice.  I try to be unique on my site and in my blog posts by mixing educational content with entertainment. It’s also important to take the time to learn the technical aspects of blogging; to give yourself an edge in the void that is the internet. Also engage in others, read their blogs, comment on topics that resonate and interest you and get yourself and your blog out there in front of others.

If anyone has anymore advice on improving my site, please feel free to let me know in the comments. You can also provide feedback from the poll below:
